Common Workout Myths

Crunches will get rid of belly fat If you are one of those people who think doing sit ups everyday will help you lose your love handle, you had better reevaluate the way you approach your workouts. According to WebMD these types of workouts are perfect for strengthening your core and improving your posture but does little for actually eliminating the actual fat surrounding your mid-section. In fact sit-ups and crunches aren’t even the most effective routines for sculpting your stomach. Planks, push-ups and bicycle crunches have been shown to have far greater results towards achieving your six-pack abs. But in order to burn actual fat, a combination of cardiovascular activities, core straightening moves and a proper diet is the most effective way to get your body fat percentage down. Weight lifting will lead to bulkiness This is without a doubt one of the biggest misconceptions surrounding the fitness community. Unless you are consuming excessive calories your muscles will not balloon to Herculean proportions just from lifting weights. With proper nutrition, a positive attitude and the willingness to put in the work, your muscles will work to create a leaner physique. Is It Time to Make a Change?

Many of us know it’s time to make a change to our workout routine or even time to finally get started. The difficult part is the first step of actually taking action. It’s commonly said that it takes 21 in a row before something becomes a habit. With the holidays approaching those 21 days can easily be interrupted by family visits, nights out with friends, and the delicious (yet typically unhealthy) foods that go along with the end of the year. We challenge you to start now and create that habit before you have to battle both motivation and seasonal obstacles like treats and having to take time off.     Baby Steps If you are making a change, it’s best to take things slow and make sure they are manageable. Make small adjustments as you get started and slowly work your way towards a more intense routine if that’s your main goal.   Terms Read the full article…
