RISE (THEN HYDRATE) AND SHINE!
Getting that first glass of H2O under your belt first thing in the morning both energizes you and starts your day on the right track. 1 glass down, 7 more to go!
Are you a straw sipper or team screw cap?
GET A FUN REUSABLE WATER BOTTLE AND ALWAYS KEEP IT ON YOU!
Not only are you more likely to drink water if it’s nearby, it’s also cheaper to refill than buy disposable bottles, plus it helps the environment. Now that’s a water win!
OUR SECRET RUSE IS TO INFUSE!
Try adding in a few lemon slices, cucumbers, or frozen berries as ice cubes, for a new twist to keep you coming back for more. There’s plenty of flavored water additives on the market as well, just make sure to thoroughly wash your bottle between uses!
BREAK IT UP, FOLKS!
Like all big goals, split it into small manageable pieces. Take a few sips in between work tasks, walk to the water fountain throughout the day, or make a rule to drink a glass on the top of every hour. Every ounce adds up!
SNACK UP!
Ever watch a whole bag of spinach cook down to the size of your fist? That’s because it’s packed with water! While eating water sounds odd, your body is able to absorb the water from the food you consume. Cantaloupe, strawberries, watermelon, peaches, bell pepper, and cucumbers, are all great sources to stay hydrated.
TRACK YOUR WATER INTAKE.
Usually water and electronics don’t go together, but in this case it’s the H 2 our O. Track your water intake on one of the many smart-phone apps available to keep you accountable and help you progress throughout the day!
YOU’VE HEARD OF HANGRY, BUT HAVE YOU HEARD OF DEHAGGRIVATED?
Sometimes when our bodies feel hunger, we are actually just dehydrated. When you feel your stomach start to growl try taking a few gulps before raiding the fridge.
HYDRATE BEFORE YOU CAFFEINATE!
Be aware of your intake of diuretics, such as coffee and alcohol, which increase water loss, and replenish accordingly. Challenge yourself to drink a full glass of water before pouring yourself that cup of joe & double fist your boozy beverages with a fifth of H2O!
DON’T ACT SALTY…ADD IT TO YOUR WATER!
Common electrolytes include sodium, potassium, and magnesium. These minerals help maintain fluid balance in your body through osmosis, preventing your cells from swelling or getting dehydrated.
CHECK YOURSELF BEFORE YOU WRECK YOURSELF.
Your body will tell you when you’re dehydrated with these common symptoms: dry mouth, sleepiness, dizziness, headache, confusion, or dark urine. Drink water consistently to prevent any dehydration symptoms but chug an extra glass if you notice these signs.
